What do you do when a presidential candidate comes to your town?

What a fun few days in my hometown! Barack Obama prepared for tonight's debate in Asheville, and the whole town was on Cloud Nine! He drew 28,000 at a rally Sunday (not bad for a town of 70,000 people! Do you participate in rallies when a candidate comes to a town near you, or do you just hear about it on the news?

I don't see politicians as superstars, so seeing them in person isn't that big a deal. -
Oh, how exciting! Barack has come to New Mexico a couple of times but I've always missed the event. (McCain was in Albuquerque yesterday, but that was something I was more than glad to pass on:-P
Four years ago, the swing state campaigning was really intense in my state. I did see Kerry at one outdoor rally, and was very impressed. I worked for the Kerry campaign through the League of Conservation Voters. It was an inspiring time.
So, yes, I like going to rallies and campaigning and such, as much as I am able to do it. That's one reason I was a bit disappointed when New Mexico went off the swing state chart - I was hoping to see more action! Still, I'm happy for every state that turns blue on the electoral map! -
Living in DC for more than a decade, I've come to see visits of major figures as more of a nuisance, since it can screw up traffic and keep me from getting to work on time. Still, an Obama inauguration would be something I'd want to experience.
