What do you think of the corporate involvement in the presidential conventions, both Democratic and Republican?

Well, the corporations were in full bloom during the Olympics that got over just last night. Now the Democrats are meeting in the Denver Pepsi Center, and thanks more than 100 corporations who have given to the Democratic Host Committee. This includes most of the telecom companies. In peoplepowergranny.blogspot.com, I lament how we have become the United Corporations of the World. What do you think?

I not a fan of corporate involvement in the political process although it seems the corporations run our country these days.
People need to have a better understanding of corporations and how they influence the world we live in. I highly recommend the documentary - The Corporation - which can be previewed here:

I saw that documentary, The Corporation, and is definitely required viewing for all thoughtful citizens. Many of us don't recognize that so many of our problems, both locally and globally, come from the way corporations have been enabled* in their pursuit of profits.
The Corporation's tag line sums it up: [corporations are] "intelligent ... amoral ... evolving"
and I would like to add, SCARY!-
*IMO, two of the biggest enablers of of corporations are two laws that have been enacted in the US:
~one law gives a corporation the same legal rights as "a person"
~one law requires that the main purpose is to maximize shareholder profits, usually in the short term
IMO, these are very bad laws that have had enormous and destructive consequences. But they are only laws; they can be changed. And they should be.
