Political Discussions

Now, in addition to being known as torture sympathizers, the Grand Old Party can become known as the party that condones child rape by school officials. In Stafford, AZ a 13 year old was strip searched for Ibuprophen(!)--made to pull her panties to the side before adult staff. As a 13 year old can not legally give consent for such a display this is clearly a case of statutory.

Nonetheless Bush43 nominee John Roberts, Bush41 nominee David Souter, and Reagan nominee Anthony Kennedy have all expressed sympathy for school officials having to cope with the horrendous menace of Ibuprophen ravaging their school! What a bunch of sickos!

only if they f~ck up and do what comes naturally; marginalize the detrimental effects of psychological trauma and leave it up to the states to decide if they want to keep abusing children

Now I am not so sure that this would be the end of the GOP since the Democrats have all-stars such as Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, and Nancy Pelosi. However I do find it rather difficult to defend such the strip search. I may not be a lawyer, but it seems to me that the school clearly overstepped their bounds here. Perhaps if they had proof that the girl was transporting heroin or cocaine the search might be warranted. Ibuprofen though?

It doesn't matter what the kid was suspected of - you can't touch a minor without first contacting, and having present the parent or at the very least, a police presence and a warrant, and a damn good lawyer.

right, it falls under Age of Consent laws... should have never made it out of state court. Unfortunately, in Rednecksylvania it's all about adults having "moral authority"

As far as the constitutional issues are concerned, I have sumarized my humble custodian legal oppinion on the case in the thread "ACLU defends your daughter's vagina" on the non-political board.

I think that the GOP has had a string of very embarrassing and unexplainable, unjustifiable events happen over the last few years, mainly related to sex, sexuality, and questionable behaviors. The reason they get so much flak over stuff like this is because on the outside, they rail against such behaviors, and condemn others who do it (whether it's something illegal or immoral, or it's something like, being gay or cheating on your spouse).

So they make a point to single out, harass, and politically beat-to-death the very behaviors they are secretly involved in themselves.

SO when they get caught doing it....supporting it...or other actions like this case where really the stance is highly and morally questionable....it sets up a bad reputation.

i think it goes along with being out of touch with contemporary values. Although some "progressive" statists probably will dissagree with me also... until they see this Redding girl on the beloved Oprah show

Do kids snort Ibuprophen or what. How exactly do they get high off that? I take 600 Mg sometimes for my back and while it does moderately relieve pain, I can't say I get any kind of buzz off it.

It was PRESCRIPTION Ibuprophen. pretty hard stuff! aka, an excuse to look at underaged honor student's "personal effects"

Sati I have about 3 bottles of 800s and about 3 refills each. No way that can make you high but it does help with that darn bulging disc! Those kids and their sore muscles must be stopped!

probably after the teachers make them keep running on their broken bones

All in all, it's just another brick in the wall

"Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., sought a few times to raise the possibility that school officials in the case might be found to have legal immunity for the search, so the Court would have no need to write a clear-cut Fourth Amendment ruling..."
