Wu-Tang Clan - Return Of The Wu: Mixed By Mathematics
The Record Reviewer | 1 day ago by Dbuchan
In the harsh light of retrospect, the love afforded to Staten Island leviathans Wu-Tang Clan’s overdue 2007 studio return 8 Diagrams was largely a by-product of relief. Finally, hip hop’s premier crew ceased solo projects, feuds, acting and – in the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s case – getting dead long enough to reconvene as a single force. When old friends return, you embrace and ask questions later.
Quite aside from longing nostalgia for classic debut Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), 8 Diagrams was a patchy proposition rather at odds with itself. What it really required was more objective hands at the wheels of steel. Enter associated family member Mathematics, producer/DJ, who mixes this collection of lost gems, re-fixes and mixtape-ready bangers from the extended Wu crew. Where 8 Diagrams meandered through smatterings of tracks lasting longer than the average chart rapper’s moment in the limelight, Return Of…’s non-stop attack lends a street cipher vibe. Reminding h

Flagstaff Lake, Maine
Last summer I worked for five weeks as a member of an Appalachian Trail crew, living in tents in Northern Maine while performing maintenance on the trail. Apparently I gave them my mailing address, because yesterday I received “The MAINEtainer,” an eight-page newspaper from the Maine Appalachian Trail Club (MATC). One headline stood out: “MATC opposes Highland Plantation wind energy plan.” The article included a map of the area around the proposed Highland Plantation, and I recognized it as Flagstaff Lake, where I spent a week cutting new trail out of the side of a hill with a mattock. The area is part of the ‘Hundred-Mile Wilderness,’ the longest stretch of the entire Appalachian Trail without a town or store.
MATC opens by summarizing their opposition to the installation of wind turbines two miles from the trail: “The MATC recognizes the need to develop wind power as a renewable energy source. However, this need must be balanced against the recre

India’s human space flight programme got a major boost as the General Budget proposed a significant allocation to it and also sought increase in funds for setting up an indigenous global positioning system. The Budget, presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in the Lok Sabha, has allocated Rs 150 crore for the human spaceflight programme under which the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to develop a space vehicle to put a two-member crew in space and get them back safely.
The plan allocation for ISRO has been pegged at Rs 5,000 crore as against the revised budgetary estimates of Rs 3,172 crore last year.
The Budget has proposed Rs 100 crore for Chandrayaan-I and II. Space scientists are planning to land two robotic rovers on the moon to carry out tests on the lunar surface.

The Rise and Fall of a Female Captain Bligh
World Info Alert | 4 days ago by Rose
The Rise and Fall of a Female Captain BlighWomen are so common in the upper ranks of the U.S. military these days that it's no longer news when they break through another barrier. Unfortunately, the latest benchmark isn't one to brag about: being booted as captain of a billion-dollar warship for "cruelty and maltreatment" of her 400-member crew. According to the Navy inspector general's report that triggered her removal — and the accounts of officers who served with her — Captain Holly Graf was the closest thing the U.S. Navy had to a female Captain Bligh.Read more: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1969602,00.html#ixzz0hO8c1QwF

CULT MOVIE: THE DEER HUNTER (1978)
indierider | 4 days ago by nakis
An epic stunner about the effects of the Vietnam War on the lives of the people from a small industrial town in Pennsylvania, especially three young steelworkers who enlist in the US army and find themselves caught up in a brutality they had never bargained for. The film is long (three hours) and slow in places, but this is a deliberate and effective ploy to make sure the audience is totally involved in the lives of those on screen, and is shattered as events both during and after the war change the men's lives forever. The Russian roulette scene with De Niro and Walken will have your heart in your mouth as well as serving as a powerful metaphor for the whole business of going to war. The scene where the plane gets snagged on the bridge was accidental, a member of the crew actually frees it and Cimino just kept the cameras rolling.Director: Michael Cimino Cast: Robert De Niro, John Savage, Christopher Walken, Meryl Streep, John Cazale

The Reality of Working Onboard a Cruise Ship
Realtime Vista Community | 5 days ago by Realtime Publishers
Is it the warm thoughts of sun and sand? Is it the lure of exotic places? Is it the romantic dream of living on the ‘love boat’? Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to work on a cruise ship. However, it is important to have a realistic picture of the life and work onboard. Most land-loving civilians believe that ship life is like a paid vacation. They obviously haven not worked on a cruise ship before. In a way, ship life is similar to working in the entertainment industry. It seems glamorous and exotic but this can be deceiving.
There are many benefits to working onboard a ship. They include visiting numerous ports of call and learning about the history and customs of our world’s many different cultures. As a crew member, you will sample different foods, experience a simpler way of life and meet a myriad of interesting people. You will achieve independence and gain an adventurous spirit because your eyes will be opened to so many new opportunities and possibil

Gucci Mane & Young Jeezy Crew Fight In Atlanta
ForbezDVD.Com | 5 days ago
Shots were fired, though no one was hit, during an altercation between groups affiliated with local rappers Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy that closed Walter’s Clothing in downtown Atlanta for about 30 minutes.
The fight started around 4 p.m. Thursday when Mane’s group walked into the store — popular with celebrities — and spotted Jeezy’s associates, said witness Patrick Morrison.
“There was a physical altercation inside the location between several men,” Atlanta Police spokesman James Polite confirmed to the AJC. One of the men produced a weapon “and as a result a private armed security guard of a local entertainer discharged his weapon.”
Polite said the security guard, employed by local rapper Waka Flocka, has been detained.
The fighting was intense, witnesses said. “They just started going at it,” said Morrison, a Walter’s employee.
Waka Flocka, aka Juaqin Malphurs, is a member of Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squ

Resistance 3 to be announced on Friday

Jan Meijroos is a crew member of the biggest Dutch gaming show, GameKings. You have just learned this invaluable information because he has just become famous for tweeting that Sony will officially announce Resistance 3 on Friday and that it will land later this year.
Well that is what I am told he said, the Google translation of the original site leaves a lot to be desired.
“A Game of Kings, Jan Roos, through his twitter Meij said that probably this Friday Resistance 3 is announced.
Resistance development was that in 3, while it had been a rumor since there appeared a billboard which was Resistance 3.
Furthermore, the Resistance series one of the better-selling series on the PlayStation 3. No wonder that a sequel. And this Friday would therefore need for clarity about this game by January!”
My brain hurts reading that, for the Dutch speaking member of the audience here is his original Tweet

Ten (not so new) things I learned while doing my film, Limbunan.1. Despite a lengthy, well-planned pre production, something unexpected is bound to happen during the shoot. 2. A member of the production will come to the set ill-prepared.3. Someone will cry in the production.4. Someone will sleep during the take (in my case, the boom man)5. Production crew members are bound to disagree. But in the end, the director is always right. 6. Initiative is a recessive trait of half of your production crew.7. Magic hour only lasts a minute.8. Imagination and resourcefulness are key things (a rain scene without a rainmaker is possible in the middle of El Nino)9. Patience is truly a virtue. 10. Never bring peanuts on the set.

An Extra Bizarre Wednesday RANT: Vegas Vagina
Sugar Snow Music | 6 days ago
I will eventually stop obsessing about all things vagina , I promise. I thought I had covered everything, but that shows how limited my aforementioned frothy imagination actually is. Apparently, a totally bare ladyflower is so yesterday. Now, the cool thing is Vajazzling, applying a lovely rhinestone pattern to your painstakingly naked pussy. Like the woman in the video at this link. This is NSFW, although you can't really identify much, but do you want to explain to your boss why you are watching rhinestones being carefully applied to a vagina?http://www.theluxuryspot.com/2010/02/23/i-got-vajazzled-and-had-a-camera-crew/I am completely, utterly taken aback by this, but not because someone is adorning their privates in some way. After being a member of an all woman's gym near a college campus, I have seen more curiously placed tattoos and more appallingly placed piercings than I can ever erase from my mind. But, people, let's start with the basics. This takes a looooong time. A wax i

Meet BabyTravels
Dotting The Map | 7 days ago by Hilarye
Babytravels is the newest member of the DTM crew (and the most important member) and it occurred to me the other day that no one knows anything about her. She was born in October of last year in Salt Lake City. Traveling is in her blood. And she does it quite well. Here are some quick facts about the cutest dottingthemaper.
Stats: Weighs almost 12 pounds and is five months old. As of last weekend she has been on 17 flights (will be 19 this weekend). Has been to Hawaii, California (three times), Minnesota (twice), North Dakota, Las Vegas, Utah, and Arizona (twice). Is good-natured and smiles often.
Likes: Blowing raspberries, funny sounds, pink teddy bears, pacifiers, baths, guitars, Grandmas (doesn’t even necessarily need to be her own), and anything that makes a noise when she shakes it.
Dislikes: long road trips, diaper rashes, shots, being hungry and missing naps.
Traveling with a baby is different. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily hard (although sometimes it can be

Bells a'Ringing !
Patience-please | 7 days ago by Patience Renzulli
My much admired Canadian blogging friend, Barry, has finished his Chemotherapy. There is a tradition in the Cancer Center where he is being treated: the client rings a big, brass bell after the infusion of his last Chemo. But for our beloved Barry, would just the one bell do? No way!On the actual day that he finished, hundreds of bloggers joined him and bells rang all over the world.I am quite tardy, but I am also a charter member of the Better Late Than Never Club. As I read the blogs which I've missed during my work imposed, funk imposed, not-enough-hours-in-the-day imposed blog exile, I realised I needed to Ring a Bell, late or not!So, I called on the Waggle to help, of course. My charge nurse at my new job gave all of her crew a gift for Christmas. I was touched to be included, as I had only been on the floor for a couple of weeks. I received a cute little Santa doorknob decoration with a jingle bell.Swede William was the first to learn that if he rang the bell when he wanted to go

Opinions: Jollibee's Chicken Barbeque Fail
Tj's Daily® | 8 days ago by Tj Panganiban
It was a couple of days ago when I decided to finally try with my family Jollibee's newest chicken dish, the Chicken Barbeque. I was like, "masarap siguro 'to since yung mga inasal food stores masarap yung ganito" (This could be delicious since other similar stores offer and serve theirs perfectly). I was with my mother at the counter at the Jollibee store beside the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the cashier took our orders. Snafu ensued. To our disbelief, they served us some hideous looking food:Charcoal FAIL. The only one that looks normal was their Chicken Joy.Charcoal FAIL.Can you believe the crew of that specific Jollibee food store expected us to eat something as hideous as that? When my mother inquired about how black the Chicken Barbeques were, a crew member told us "Ma'am ganyan po talaga yan. Pare-pareho po yan sa lahat ng store" (Ma'am, it's really like that. It's all the same with other Jollibee stores). Compare the pictures I took with the pictures of their Chicken B

Well, I know that we took our trip to Banner Elk, NC last May, and that it's a little late to be writing about the trip now. :) Honestly, I don't know where the time goes! I think some of it has to do that we're getting ready to sell our beloved and beautiful Randolph, NH home, and that has had us a bit preoccupied...Anyway, better late than never! One part of our visit that truly stood out in our minds was our afternoon at Christa's Country Corner & Deli, on Route 181 in Pineola, NC (located at Mile Marker 312 off the Blue Ridge Parkway).Christa's is a classic country store that is truly so much more than your typical tourist stop. You can see the pride that goes into everything Christa and her crew does. The store is so popular, and it doesn't take a visitor long to realize why. We were greeted and treated so graciously (not only by Christa Poore, the owner, but also by able crew member Janine Hughes). The ambiance is perfect for a mountain gathering place. MSC Magnifica - Mediterranean Shipping Conundrum
Get your kicks at sea | 8 days ago
After an eagerly anticipated wait to experience what MSC have to offer, I finally got on board the brand new MSC Magnifica docked in Southampton. You could tell how new the ship was just by looking...clean as a whistle. I was really looking forward to this one as I had never actually been on a MSC ship before and from Client's comments I didn't really know what to expect.Check in was extremely quick and easy apart from the usual belt problem at security for the gents. Just as well I had trousers on that fitted me properly! After getting my room card I was escorted to deck 10 to my cabin by a helpful crew member. My initial reaction upon entering the ship was "It's quite nice isn't it?", I didn't really feel a big wow like I did the first time I boarded the likes of the Independence Of The Seas. Upon enetering my cabin, I was pretty impressed with the furnishings. I was in a category 10 balcony cabin. It was set up as a double and also had a sofa bed which I did try and was very comfort
