Happy Thanksgiving! Where have you been hiding out? Don't see much of you anymore.

Tia-I left a comment on the thread but you might not have seen it. Of course you can share my link! I'd be honored. And I'm so glad you liked that aphorism. It's one of my personal favorites.

I'm so glad you chose yesterday to visit. First sunny day in a week. Today is beautiful, too.

we spent a couple wonderful hours in your area today at Buttermilk Falls. It was beautiful and sunny for once!

Not completely yet. But it's been so gray and dismal it's hard to enjoy it.

my granddaughter gave me the flu :( we're both fighting it off. Have the leaves completely turned your way? We're thinking of an afternoon trip for Saturday and thought about Ithica

the Aurora. Plus, there's a nice little antique shop right in the middle of town. It's really a charming place-beautiful houses and the lake always in clear sight as you walk down the street.

nothingprofound said:

Tia-have you ever visited Aurora? I think you might like it. It's a lovely little village about 20 miles north of Ithaca. Wells College is there as well as Mackenzie-Childs. It's a great place to visit on a mild, sunny day. It's located right on Cayuga Lake and has a great place to get lunch-

Hope the weather was good, it just seems to rain every day. Although with all the rain the falls must've been full. There's a concert by the lake Saturday nights. Were you there then?

I was in your neck of NY this past weekend. I had to check out some furniture and then we spent the rest of the day at Taughannock Falls.

poor kid only got the car recently and even though it was not his fault, his insurance will go up now. but still, they're alive and okay. I last went to the Ren. Fest when my eldest was 4, 21 years ago

he is shaken. I saw the photos he took and all three cars are a wash. if his friend hadn't tried to get away by trying to go up onto the curb she's have hit them head on. As is was, she hit so hard she snapped off their back wheel.

It's been years, not since my daughter was very young. Great fun. I remember seeing a Moliere play there. Have a great time. Hope your son is doing okay. I imagine he's pretty shook up.

Hi backatcha. I went, I read, I wrote :) this weather we're getting is killing my allergies. some kind of mold caused by the weather. We're hoping to get in a trip next weekend. Even if it's to the 1000 Islands for a day or two, anything before summer ends.

July 18th 2009

nothingprofound said:

Hi Tia-I've posted some new aphorisms. Take a peek if you've got some free time. Can you believe the summer we're having so far? Of course I'm happy whatever the weather is, but it would be nice if the kids had a few more swimming opportunities.

Floormodel said:

no. I wanted to too. We ended up running in circles around our area. this weekend I'm having my own lawn sale so no traveling.

June 3rd 2009

Did you ever make it to the festival?

June 2nd 2009

Floormodel said:

oops. Thanks for the book store(s) info!!! Books and thep rospect of buying more books makes my eyes glow!

May 29th 2009

Floormodel said:

we still might make the trip to your area. my other half's been on vacation this week and will be next too and we need a nice day trip.

Book store's name is Phoenix. The Bookery in the Dewitt Mall downtown is also very good. Rare stuff. Couldn't figure out which antique shop you meant, though there are several a little ways out of town. Weather, unfortunately, looks crappy for this weekend.

May 28th 2009

Floormodel said:

I hope it is too. I also remember visiting an antique place that was more like a cavern of items than a regul;ar prissy antique shop. I mentioned the Festival to my other half last night and it may happen. We have a sale coming up so if it's nice here we're reorganizing the garage first

I think I know the bookstore you mean. It's about a mile before the airport. My wife's best friend worked there for a couple of years. I think it's still there.

May 20th 2009

nothingprofound said:

There are two wonderful used book stores downtown on the commons-maybe you mean one of those. Where did your son eventually wind up going?

May 20th 2009

Floormodel said:

yes, we have. it's a lot of fun and we might go if time allows. my younger son looked at Ithaca for college and we spent a lot of time visiting the area. There used to be an awesome used book store, is it gone?

May 20th 2009

nothingprofound said:

Yes; I'm an Ithacan by way of Arizona by way of Brooklyn. I get the impression you live in Rochester. Next weekend is the Ithaca Festival. Have you ever been? It's lots of fun. Three days of crafts, food and music-all outdoors and free.
