Thinking back, I realize that making jewelry has always been with me, even if vicariously, through my Mother and Dad. During the shortage of nice jewelry in WWII, I was very young ☺, my Mother made jewelry from seashells. I still have a few pieces. They were very unique and she sold most to make money to buy a new vacuum cleaner. A total of $89 - a lot of money back then! After I left home, both my parents started to make jewelry from pearls. Some of the patterns they used were the beginnings of today's more complicated beading patterns. I have some of those pieces too.
I started making jewelry in 1999. One style lead to another and each was just as interesting and fun to make. However, the latest style, Chain Maille, is my favorite with Kumihimo coming in a close second.
