I am a certified personal trainer and running coach, triathlete, marathoner, mother of two boys, wife, activist, neighbor, friend, sister, twin, aunt, daughter, workout partner…and a dreamer. I am the Founder of Girls on the Run of Northeast Florida and spent many years as a marketing consultant and in the corporate world. These days, I have settled into a career as a Freelance Writer and love it. I am able to make a living being creative, and I can plan my days around running (ultra important), sit around in sweaty workout clothes while I write, grab lunch with the girls whenever I want, and pick and choose who I want to work with.
Live a Life of Sport, Play & Adventure!
I started this site because I felt a need to expand the Cool Adventure Girls and connect women from all over the world in a positive way. As I sit here in my Florida beach house typing away on this keyboard, I often stare out the window, wondering what other cool women are out there in the U.S. and Australia, France, Germany, Costa Rica, Iceland, South Africa, etc. While I have the best group of cool girls any woman could ask for, I am drawn to reaching out around the planet and trading resources, stories, inspiration and opportunities. The mission with this Blog is “to connect and inspire ‘real’ women around the world for a lifetime of adventure, achievement, discovery and healthy living!”
Websters defines “adventure” as: an exciting or remarkable experience. That’s what I think life should be. Adventure doesn’t necessarily mean you have to skydive or bungee jump (thank goodness because my palms are sweaty just typing that). I believe it means living life to the fullest. Making an effort to meet your friends for a drink and some laughs, taking a spur of the moment weekend retreat, trying a new yoga class, traveling somewhere new, learning how to play again, jumping off the diving board at your pool, trading your lackluster job for something that really gets your juices flowing, taking a chance to write a novel, etc. You get the picture. I believe life is all about courage — having the courage to continually step outside your comfort zone. Otherwise, that comfort zone will get smaller and smaller, and soon you will find yourself unwilling to try anything new. That’s a dangerous place. I know because I’ve been there and still get there sometimes. So let’s take this journey together. Let’s connect. And let’s inspire each other to an exciting and remarkable life!
