I'm Erick Lux, a professional horticulturist in Southern California. This blog is about plants and the nursery industry. The plants, ideas, and events I write about will reflect our Mediterranean climate. I am an expert in my field with over 25 years of experience, but more importantly, I love plants. I enjoy traveling the world to seek out new things or to see "old friends" in habitat. If there is a plant show or sale, I'm there-- a garden lecture, of course! Name a specialty mail order nursery and I've probably bought something from them. I've given plants and the plant biz a lot of thought and I've formed some strong opinions. I grew up on Punk and New Wave music and have have always embraced their 'DIY/ make your own rules' ethos. To paraphrase the Clash: "We say what we like. You either catch on to it, grasp what we've got, or you don't. We're not going to preach and preach until we sound like some sort of evangelist." I don't believe in voodoo or mysticism, I believe in science, especially when it comes to gardening. I welcome your questions. You can post them in the comments area
