I developed Fibromyalgia after a series of injuries sustained in the line of duty as a police officer [hence the nickname Fibrocop].
I've been involved in Fibromyalgia advocacy since 1995. I started a not-for-profit organization and website in 1998 to help build awareness of Fibro. Last year [after I suffered a mini stroke or TIA] the board of directors decided to dissolve the organization.
I keep active in the FM community through volunteering with the National Fibromyalgia Association's [NFA] Leaders Against Pain Coalition, the Lupus Support Network [LSN], and P.A.N.D.O.R.A.. I’ve chosen the username FibroFACES because the name of the organization I started was FACES.
I have found blogging to be a lot more freeing and just as effective as monitoring the website of an organization.
