I go by the name Sammy Ashouri in the "real world." I started calling myself a domainer in August 2006. I did start in February 2006, but I didn't get serious about it till August/September.
I feel like I have a pretty damn good idea about the web and what it takes to make a good website. I do lack some talents, but have been introduced to many people who help out in the areas I lack. Of course, you can always pay someone to do it for you, but it's also nice to try and get help so you can learn and be less dependent.
I never really card about much of the webmaster forums but realized like all things in life, networking is the best way to succeed. You meet people who can give you new pieces of information and you excel in whatever it is you are pursuing.
