Gareth is extremely busy working throughout the UK and abroad as a freelance education consultant. He has extensive experience of strategic leadership including advising the Minister of Education of the Cayman Islands, during a period of the total transformation of the entire education service from Early Years to life long community learning. As a very successful 'trouble shooting' Head teacher of four schools, mainly in London, his leadership was described as "outstanding".
He is deeply involved with the development of "new state of the art" 21st century learning environments advising one the UK's leading builders of schools under the 'Building Schools of the Future' programme. He also acts as a senior consultant for Fielding Nair International, one of the worlds top designers of 21st learning environments.
Gareth is very fortunate to work extremely closely with some of the leading "guru's" of future education, including Prof. Stephen Heppell, Prakash Nair, Randy Fielding and some some simply amazing architects. Both Stephen and Prakash frequently quote Gareth by asking people whether they are "brave enough to change and continue to be brave enough to imlement" a new way of working.
Gareth started life as a drama teacher in the UK for many years, prior to going into school leadership where he became a highly successful secondary school headteacher in the Cayman Islands and then of three very challenging schools in London, where, largely as a full time consultant, he specialised in turning "failing schools" around. He then moved into school improvement work prior to this national strategic role.
Gareth has extensivc media experience, arranged a number of conferences and delivered professional development at every level, to teachers, school leaders and at Ministry level.
In his spare time (although his wife is not sure he knows what that is) he's devoted to his wife and three daughters - two of whom are very young! Gareth loves to scuba dive, travel, cook and read. He is a qualified sailing instructor.
