Mind writhing in turmoil
melancholy and madness beckon
cast onto the bitter wind to decide my fate
let it be so as was once foretold

unseen to those who refuse
to gaze upon the terrible likeness
of themselves in kind
to meet the slavering monster within
the prophets and preachers
the poets and dreamers
each seek the higher being through the lower demons
the truth of both dwell not in the minds and pens of such
but in the breast of everyone
who has breathed the fire of knowing
the pain of loss
the joy of laughter
and the true love of another
the mindless violence of word and deed
the love of creation
the ecstasy of destruction
good and evil itself are mans true destiny
each dwell within us
to be unleashed at will and whim
and so it continues
as it should
