Hi my name is Marek McKenna and killerhistory.com is my creation. I have been involved in teaching and learning history online since 2000 and have kicked around the idea of starting a project that will present history in a fun way for quite a while. With the encouragement of my students and partner I decided to give this blogging thing a whirl and see how it flies.
My students compliment me that I present information in a way that makes history fun, engaging and certainly not dull. I am not sure if they are telling the truth or trying to suck up. My partner “K” has been a big source of encouragement and has helped me collect and track down many of the documents on this site. If it had not been for her constant nagging I am mean focused support I would not have jumped into the deep end of the pool.
I have been teaching adult undergraduate students for nearly 10 years. Most of my teaching experience has been in online classrooms, which is easier on my students since I am so darn good looking and this would obviously be a distraction from their learning if they had to look at my handsome mug. I live in Chapel Hill, NC but grew up in Iowa and earned my parchments from the University of Iowa (Go Hawkeyes!).

In my free time I like to read, watch movies, kayak, and practice yoga.
