  • Surf For Your Indie Need

Pretty good blog/website. Regularly updated (for the last 5 posts, anyway), and follows a consistent format. The one-giant-paragraph writing style isn't, IMHO, the best way to present posts of this sort, but that's my opinion. If memory serves, each post had a graphic and list of songs/pieces. For indie music fans, I think this could be a blog to follow.

  • The College Warrior

This is a pretty good blog. (I'm from Minnesota, so 'pretty good' is pretty good - it's even better than 'it could be worse.') The College Warrior is well-written, with a casual and engaging style. Also photos that relate to the posts. It's got a definite point of view, so not everyone will enjoy it - but without a POV, why bother reading?

  • THE CONSERVATIVE POST

"You've Read the News... Now Get the Conservative Side of the Story" I particularly enjoy this blog, for its news-page style. Also, because it reminds me of the old Fargo Argus, a "Staunch Republican Newspaper" of the 1880s. So far, I've read opinionated, and accurate, posts about: a candidate who is struggling with a world which contains video cameras and an insufficiently regulated new media; war, peace, and appeasement, from a former president; a shocking admission from one of those 'we're all gonna die' experts. WARNING! If you believe that the moral and intellectual center of the universe is in Berkeley, and that one simply must go to Paris to study art (or "aht," as it was pronounced in the day), READING "CONSERVATIVE POST" MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH! For everyone else, this blog might be a refreshing change of pace. I could nitpick about research and sourcing - but "Conservative Post" is what it presents itself as: "the conservative side of the story." And, the facts I found were accurate.

  • Mary Quite Contrary

First, I'm biased. Naomi / brigid is my daughter. However, I'm also a recovering English teacher, and have a sort of reputation to maintain, so I'll try to be objective. brigid has been taking notes, for years, of what's gone on in this family. She's got a good memory, and a good imagination. There aren't many strips in the blog version of her comic, so I'm taking my cues from the previous chapters she posted on a technically-challenged hosting service. I won't pretend that "Mary Quite Contrary" depicts life in a Typical Small Town America family. In real life, brigid's parents met while pursuing degrees in Computer Science. Her mother succeeded, her father bombed out in the second year: and now he's the one who has to be surgically removed from the computer and is operating a small online publishing company. Each comic strip is a stand-alone gag, and a part of a continuing narrative: noting new in the comics. What sets this one apart is the point of view, and the personality of the "Mary," brigid's alter-ego. Brigid's four surviving siblings and parents have distinct and colorful personalities (if I do say so myself), which the reader will get to know fairly quickly. "Mary Quite Contrary:" slices of real life, peppered with the imagined adventures of a pre-teen. Realistic writing (I should know: I was there when the original situations happened). A distinct, individual style of drawing. This comic lies somewhere between "Calvin and Hobbs" and "For Better or For Worse." There's a good chance you'll like it.

"Norski" Here. Pretty Good blog. I came here from your discussion thread, the one where you express frustration about blogging. I've got some suggestions, and will try to re-enter the discussion thread. BlogCatalog seems to have some database issues at the moment. (Just what you need: one more self-appointed expert!)

  • New Balance Blog

New Balance Blog - a blog about New Balance shoes. I'm not sure, but I think that New Balance Blog specializes in New Balance shoes for the right foot. At least, all the illustrations I saw displayed shoes clearly intended for right feet. I should think that, in the interests of fairness, there should be a New Balance blog for the left-handed counterparts. Seriously: this is a nicely designed blog, of particular interest to people fascinated by New Balance shoes.
