Roger Harris is on the staff of Sigma Xi, based in Research Triangle Park. Roger was raised in Africa and after graduating from the University of York, England, studied biology at the University of Oregon. Eschewing a hard core research career, Roger adventured around various corners of South America, including the Amazon and the Galapagos Islands. Combining his love of writing and travel resulted in the leading travel guide to the Amazon, "The Amazon: The Bradt Travel Guide," now in its third edition. Roger has also contributed several articles and book reviews to American Scientist, Sigma Xi's award-winning magazine. As Sigma Xi's Director of Emerging Technologies, he's responsible for the Society's blog for the Year of Water 2008, as well as bringing new concepts to building communities of scientists and science fans.
