I feel that whoever reads this blog deserves a decent bio than the one I first one posted here a year ago.
My name is David Halpert. I am twenty-four years old and currently live in Toronto, Ontario. Last May, I graduated from Centennial College with a post-graduate degree in book and magazine publishing after completing a six week internship at Rogers Media. Before that I completed an Honours BA in English from York University. Currently, I am working full-time as an assistant editor for Business Information Group for two automotive trade magazines (Jobber News and SSGM [Service Station and Garage Management]). I have several freelance articles published in such magazines as Xbiz World Magazine, Home Builder Magazine, and Campus Life Magazine, with several articles and short stories in the works to get published.
Writing is my life. When I’m not working full-time I can usually be found in front of my laptop working on a freelance article, short story, or a novel. I completed my first science fiction novel in October 2008 entitled ‘Second Death’ (a link to the book can be found here) in hopes of getting published. Currently, I’m working on my second novel entitled ‘The Seducer’s Handbook’, an urban fantasy which I’m planning to turn into a trilogy (currently at 53,000 of 90,000 words completed). I was not born gifted. I did not wake up one morning with a precision craft for writing. Writing creatively for me is a struggle (as it should be) and to date I haven’t been published (save for a few freelance articles).
