  • Shining History - Medieval Islamic Civilization

    Thursday November 26th, 2009 at 23:05 | Rating: 5 | Report

Unlike many blogs which deal in the superficial, SH-MIC brings out the glories of Islamic history, a subject touched upon during my college studies, but nowhere else mentioned. The West splits its view of Moslem culture between neglecting it or fearing it. It should not be so underappreciated or wrongly assessed. I, for one, intend to come back regularly to widen my perspective. Thank you, Meam, for the outreach!

Duke -- you're a colorist! Wildly imaginative spins. Wouldn't surprise me to learn there's a connection to DG film business!

  • Theoretical Structural Archaeology

    Friday November 13th, 2009 at 16:00 | Rating: 5 | Report

Although Geoff's field isn't mine, I've always had archaeology in my heart and imagination. His blog seems very much to be worthy of reading as a book. Which is to say, very worthy, indeed. I intend to back again and again.

  • Let Us Talk

What can I say? I need islands like this one. News to counteract what passes for 'news' shouted and passed off as authoritative and objective.

  • Tostada Speaks

    Saturday November 7th, 2009 at 17:23 | Rating: 5 | Report

Good, substantive posts by someone with sound political and cultural vision. This is for thinking people all over the world, for sure. Good going!

  • Claire Fordham: The Hollywood Nobody

    Wednesday November 4th, 2009 at 14:48 | Rating: 5 | Report

It's not hard to like writers who write like this. Comfortable style, CA ambience with 'Brit' accent. Lovable!

This is more than 'blog'. Very worthy writing and -- dare I say it? -- an interesting person. I intend to back into the 'archival' bits here, since perusing them just now shows a gold mine. Bravo!

  • Every Man A Giant

Intelligent reach to this blog. Not fluff. Interesting writer. Well above the normal run 'out there'. Keep it up!

  • Politics After 50

    Sunday November 1st, 2009 at 23:40 | Rating: 5 | Report

This is more than 'pissed off'. No vulgarian writes this material. Thanks for the good humor and the thorough going-over you do on the rightwing bozos. Bush got me up and moving as well. Shockingly bad!

  • Caught In The Stream

Smart and neat poems. Clean, trim, images: energetic nuggets. Intelligent writer. Good material.

  • Hit or Miss

    Saturday October 31st, 2009 at 01:48 | Rating: 5 | Report

This blog scores an honest, full 5 stars. In the great number of blogs with elevations measured in the millimeters, this one takes off into orbit. Intelligent style? Very much so. Keep this one going. "Watch the skies!"

  • out of context: pieces of a life

    Saturday October 31st, 2009 at 01:35 | Rating: 5 | Report

Got to be said: dig your style, mon ami! Keep doing this, daily if possible? There's a place for thinkers and word-workers out here!

  • Ask Socrates Now!

    Saturday October 31st, 2009 at 01:32 | Rating: 5 | Report

Maybe I'm repeating myself, since I just filled in some other drop-down, pop-up, involve-yourself, commercially-driven space, but this has to be said. Vive, Socrate! Press on to the best social critiques and psychological examinations you can.

  • TheRainbowBank

The recommendation here goes to a man whose intelligence and knowledge need to be shared by this vast potential readership. You actually learn from TheRainbowBank! Don't miss this one!

  • Think Spin

    Sunday October 25th, 2009 at 12:17 | Rating: 5 | Report

What works about this blog is its personal touch. So many blogs have nothing of interest to say, and Think Spin shows an interesting mind at work. Not infrequently with a bit of 'wickedness' in the humor. Like to follow a mind? Here's one!

  • askcherlock.com

    Sunday October 25th, 2009 at 12:13 | Rating: 5 | Report

Lots of good reach. Dual bloggers, a couple, dealing with range of subjects, large and small, smartly. Definitely recommended!

  • Life Without Faith

    Sunday October 25th, 2009 at 02:25 | Rating: 4 | Report

Brother Richard's doing a service, for sure. The problem is opening up minds that are closed. I'd be interested in knowing how his 'de-conversion' went about.

  • Forms Most Beautiful

    Sunday October 25th, 2009 at 02:17 | Rating: 5 | Report

PB is doing a real service here. Lately, the hairs on my neck have been rising. Deep stupidity is not only 'out there' (as it always has been), but it has once again donned its political armor. This isn't just a matter of 'discussion' for some. What's ignorant fears what isn't. And, fearing it, wants to eradicate it. If you're reading for blogs like this one, keep in mind that this isn't just an exercise in intellectual clarity. It's political defense, baby, and we've needed it for some time. Keep up this good work!

  • Dive into the Void

    Sunday October 25th, 2009 at 01:43 | Rating: 5 | Report

Having spent far too many hours discovering what all should clearly know by instinct -- that blogs are banal, superficial, and mind-deadening -- it was with relief and pleasure that this blog appeared, a green sapling in the Great Dead Amazon of worthless scribble. I'm giving this a '5' rating based on its desire to write something worthwhile. Go girl! Of course, if we were to flip a coin, we might as soon be cheerful as not over being able to reach out at this distance and know someone's listening. So the fools and knaves run things and run away with things. What's new. Pass the ketchup -- then let's catch a movie!
