Tumerica is a freelance nonfiction writer whose essays on social injustice have appeared in area newspapers. She regularly blogs on progressive political issues, food, and beauty. She contributes book reviews of non-fiction books, especially covering graphic design, as well as writing articles on writing for other writers. Tumerica is a published poet, with her works appearing in various literary magazines and anthologies. She has recently finished her first book of poetry, Red and Green: On Passion and Ecocentrics, and is searching for a publisher. Tumerica is a fanatic foodie who has published food event articles, recipes, how-tos, and writes about food for the curious. She also pens the occasional restaurant review, while admitting enjoying the research more than the writing. She has had many incarnations in her job history, including: bassoonist, vocalist, graphic designer, editor, narrator, business owner, teacher, homeless shelter manager, and art model. Tumerica lived for five years in Japan, and traveled all over Asia and parts of Europe. She now makes her home in southern California with her husband and their three-year-old girl.
