Hello, I’m Cherie. I was born in Massachusetts and grew up in a tiny town in Ohio. (In my childhood and early I have lived also in Boston, Massachusetts, San Juan Puerto Rico and Chicago, Illinois. Currently I live in Maryland just outside of Washington DC.
I'm a a professional artist and designer and I have worked in many different artistic media including theatrical design(lighting and set), photography, painting, graphic/web design, and jewelry design. I love to travel and find that it can sometimes be very interesting to “go solo”. My other half, Claus, works for an airline. Using our nearly free flight benefits, I love to trek to the most remote and interesting destinations I can find. There are many pictures on my blog.
I'm a complete disaster in the kitchen, but luckily I can repair whatever is broken; electrical, plumbing, computer, yada yada. Thank goodness Claus can cook or the family would perish.
I"m a late nester like my mom who was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII and a pilot in the Civil Air Patrol. We both started our families after 40. Claus and I decided on taking the route of special needs adoption because too many kids past the infant stage in China were going without finding families.
Our 2 special needs adoptions (one completed, one in process) have incurred expenses near $30,000. Adoption & medical expenses are for the wealthy, which unfortunately most artists (like us) are not! Many families have fund raisers or bake sales. We have my handcrafted artisan jewelry.
Our kids had a rough start in life, they were each abandoned in China due to a correctable congenital condition called clubfoot. We're dedicated to giving them the best life possible, but in order to do that we need to reduce the debt we incurred to finance the adoptions of our two kids, Kai Dong and Ming Qiao.

We created a shop at www.artsfish.com to help us give our kids a chance at a brighter future. My blog, The Artsfish Salon (www.artsfish.com/Salon) is an extension of our online shop.
We're happy to accept contributions, but what we'd really like is customers!
Our key search term is "artisan jewelry" and for that term we're around #40 on Google. The only thing we're missing to push us up is relevant BACKLINKS - so if you have a site that could help us please link to http://www.artsfish.com It would be a great help to get traffic to our store and it's a good cause!!!!!
Thanks for visiting.
