On behalf of donation agencies across the state, I'm the Campaign Manager for Donate Life Illinois - a coalition of statewide donation agencies currently working on a campaign to register 5 million people in the state's new organ/tissue donor registry by the end of April 2009.

Many folks in Illinois do not realize that they need to re-register after Jan. 1, 2006 to join the state's new first-person consent registry and that signing the back of your driver's license is no longer adequate to ensure your wishes as a donor are honored in Illinois.

Donate Life Illinois is part of a larger effort called Donate Life America, which is working to register 100 million people nationwide by April 2008.
