I am a musician, teacher, and jewelry aficionado. I recently left a career in academia to pursue a more exciting and vibrant life that allowed me to pursue my artistic passions: piano, jewelry, and writing. Goddess Findings, always a presence in the background, is now at the forefront of my renaissance--and none too soon. After Hurricane Katrina wiped the slate clean for me, I’ve gradually been piecing it all back together, and found that I rather like the fact that things are different than before. With little resources and a few beads and jewels I was able to save from the wreckage, I opened an online store at Etsy called Goddess Findings after resigning from university teaching. My blog is an opportunity to express my love of gemstones and metals and write about the creative process while investigating the fascinating connection between women and jewelry with particular attention to spirituality. I like to say this blog is a psycho-spiritual twist on the ancient practices of adornment! Janice free lances in D.C. as a collaborative pianist, and maintains an active consulting schedule in music education nationally and abroad.
