ar·tic·u·late [adj., n. ahr-tik-yuh-lit] - using language easily and fluently; having facility with words
Given the dictionary definition of the word, Articulate is just that. This Baltimore-bred MC is a lyricist first and foremost, and his ability to manipulate syllables into meaningful, imaginative, powerful songs gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “having facility with words”.
Lyrical ability will only get one so far, however. Articulate’s skill set reaches far beyond wordplay. More than just a rapper, he is a true artist with knowledge of musicianship as well as the ins and outs of the technical side of recording. Artic uses this combination of skills to write, produce, arrange, and perform songs that break barriers conceptually and musically. His music strays away from typical commercial rap conventions, but still has a universal appeal. You have never heard Hip-Hop like this before.
Articulate’s talents have made a successful music career—which many consider a far-fetched dream—into a realistically achievable goal. The strength of his music has taken him to several different markets to do shows, such as DC, Baltimore, Philly, Wilmington, and New York, at venues including Howard University’s famed Cramton Auditorium, University of Maryland’s Stamp Student Center, Drexel University, and many more. He has opened up for established acts such as Roc-a-fella Records’ Freeway, Roots Crew affiliate Hezekiah, revolutionary MC Immortal Technique, and Stones Throw Records‘ Oh No.
In addition, his songs have been featured on radio stations such as Washington DC’s WPGC 95.5 FM, Baltimore’s WEAA 88.9 FM, and Howard University’s WHBC 830 AM. Also, he is frequently featured on many popular websites, and his music is often requested for mixtapes.
Articulate has a bright future ahead for himself, as his talent combined with his independent grind has gotten the attention of a couple major label representatives, including reps from Sony Music and former Atlantic Records A&R Sickamore.
Always in search of new ways to enhance his talents musically and intellectually, this former Howard University student now attends The Art Institute of Washington, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Audio Production. In the future, he plans to use his knowledge to open a music, video, web, and film production facility that works on major projects, but also serves the community offering kids classes in digital arts.
His most recent project, the “Slave For This Dollar EP”, is currently available at SlaveForThisDollar.com. Articulate also has other projects digitally distributed through retailers such as iTunes, eMusic, Napster, AmazonMP3, Lala.com, Rhapsody, and more.
