Hi – my name is Jane Pollak, and I’m the author of “Soul Proprietor: 101 Lessons from a Lifestyle Entrepreneur.” I learned many lessons as I experienced all of the ups and downs of building a successful business as an artist. I share these lessons in my book, as a speaker and trainer and as a business coach working with clients one-on-one. Through it all I’ve seen that structuring a business to reflect personal values is the true key to success.

I began my career as an art teacher with a Masters from Columbia University Teachers College. What started as a project for a high school class became a passion for pysanky – the Ukrainian word for “eggs which have been written on.” As you can imagine my career shot to a new level when I was invited to the White House to decorate an egg for the annual Easter Egg Roll,. At the same time I was raising three children and running a full-blown home business, speaking internationally, and appearing on television—including The Today Show, HGTV and CBS News.
I thoroughly enjoyed running a highly successful business as an artist. However, the lessons I learned along the way led me to share my story and give advice to aspiring entrepreneurs. Since 1999 I’ve switched my focus from art to coaching entrepreneurs and leading dynamic workshops and retreats for business owners.
