Diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy when I was 4 1/2 years old, I have been in a motorized wheelchair since age 10. Now 29, I have been ventilator-dependent for nearly five years. Despite my disease, I have strived to live as normally as possible. I was mainstreamed in public schools, graduated college, and currently work for an accessible IT consulting firm.
