"letter from an unknown" is funny and interesting and the more provocative the more you stick with it. Many marvelous pictures deftly illustrate the story, and the blogger's graphic style is arresting and distinctive. It's best to read this from the beginning but also thoroughly entertaining wherever and whenever you pick it up.

  • Love Poems and Verses

    Thursday May 28th, 2009 at 17:55 | Rating: 5 | Report

From what I've read of this group blog, the poetry is especially fine. Verse describes prose that on this blog carries as much beauty and refinement as poetry. The writers' expression of love and desire is fresh, genuine, and unique.

Hurray for serial blog fiction! The writer has a distinctive voice and doesn't rush. I admire that, because as another serial blog fiction writer, I cut and cut, trying to tell the story fast before a reader's attention wanders elsewhere. There are advantages either way. But a quick style has its limits. Personally, I'd love to see blog readers flock to fiction that settles in and gets cozy.

  • The Alopecian Muse

    Friday December 26th, 2008 at 16:39 | Rating: 5 | Report

Funny, interesting, and honest, the alopecian muse shares her personal feelings about battling hair loss year after year, some years being better, others worse. The hair loss, which sometimes includes eyebrows and eyelashes is releated to lupus disease. The Muse's upbeat outlook and humor remain constant and serve as a rallying call for women everywhere, with or without hair, currently sick or not sick yet. Her blog offers a hair loss support group, which I wanted to join...out of solidarity even though I have not suffered any hair loss yet. (It seemed best suited for those actively living with the situation as opposed to random well'-wishers like me. My sister suffered temporary but total hair loss when she underwent chemo for breast cancer at age 30. Losing her hair was perhaps the hardest aspect for her--she was young and had always enjoyed abundant beautiful blonde hair. She survived breast cancer but chemo thrust her into early menopause. Her hair grew back but it was never the same. (She wears it short now, and of course the color's changed.) More noticeably, though, she was not the same, either. After the setbacks and pain, she changed from a shy, young woman to one who's fearless, undaunted, and determined to never go through a day without helping another person through mentoring or volunteer work in addition to her regular job. Very likely, she would have grown as strong and committed without having suffered cancer. To her mind, illness is never a good thing. But it happens--and it happens to everyone, sooner or later. This alopecian muse offers a similar realistic, funny, and eager-to-help generosity to everyone who reads her blog. Every woman, child, and some generous men will feel very welcome here, and no doubt leave it smiling.

  • The underside of honesty...an open journal.

    Thursday November 27th, 2008 at 12:24 | Rating: 5 | Report

A well written man's journal strikes me as a rarity in itself. Why is that? This journal excels by any standard. RGeoffery describes his writing--actually I think he describes himself--as self-deprecating. I have the same habit. But if you read what he's done, the struggles he's overcome and those he fights daily, you'll find much to admire in the writing, and more to inspire you in his message.

  • Love Ely

    Saturday September 27th, 2008 at 15:37 | Rating: 5 | Report

Love Ely thoughtfully offers reports and insights into the struggles real people face. The blog presents causes and on-going troubles in a way that's easy to understand and that calmly pleads for action. The blog promotes good will without stinting. The writer's personal peace sets the tone, however, so that even our biggest worries and sorriest mistakes appear solvable. A beacon for unity that's not solemn, not scolding, but so sympathetic and open as to allow occasional humor and kindly wit.
