Mehnaz Turner was born in Pakistan and raised in southern California. She is a 2009 PEN USA Emerging Voices Fellow in Poetry. She holds degrees from the University of Arizona, The University of Texas at Austin, UC Santa Barbara, and Cal State Channel Islands. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in publications such as The Journal of Pakistan Studies, Cahoots Magazine, The Pedestal Magazine, Desilit Magazine, and An Anthology of California Poets. She has been teaching at Moorpark High School Since Fall 2006
