I'm Nelly Cardinale and I teach Computer Science at Brevard Community College. I am a first generation American from a Puerto Rican family and was born and raised in the South Bronx section of New York City. Therefore, I am bilingual and speak, read and write Spanish.
As a child, I had to take the long way home from school even before the media made the situation mainstream, but that is another story. I attended Inter-American University of Puerto Rico during my freshmen year of college. I have a B.A. from the University of South Florida in Tampa and an M.S. from FIT in Melbourne Fl.
The slang term used to describe people with my heritage is New York Rican. My maiden name is Sosa. (No relation to Sammy.) As a single person, people always asked me how to spell my last name and whether my name was really Sousa instead. Now that my maiden name is famous and everyone knows the spelling, I am currently married and can no longer use the name. Oh well, sometimes you just can't win, just ask Ralph Nader!!!
I am 52 years old, lost 40 pounds in the last 4 years and am in the best shape of my life. I lost the 40 pounds by doing weight training and aerobic exercises. I used my collection of 150 exercise video tapes and DVD's, step boxes, free weights, stability balls and cleaned up my eating to lose the weight.
My exercise video collection includes Firm workouts, TLT, Turbo Jam, Tae Bo, Fit Prime Kick Butt Series, Christi Taylor, Jari Love and Cathe Gym style workouts. To stay motivated, I am a member of several free on-line exercise groups.
From time to time, I like to travel to some of the gyms where the fitness instructors from my exercise DVD's work and take live class with them. I have taken live classes with many of the instructors from the Firm and TLT exercise DVD's. These trips are extra special because some of the members of my online exercise groups also participate in these trips. It is just so much fun to meet, work out with and socialize with both my online exercise buddies and video instructors in person.
I love reading true crime, books about Paranormal topics especially those involving Ghosts and inspirational true story books. My favorite true crime authors are Ann Rule and Gregg Olson. For fun, I also enjoy reading the Dilbert book series. I feel you can really learn a lot concerning how the real corporate world operates by reading these.
I have two boys. My first child is 20 and is currently a junior at a state university in Florida and resides in the dorms there. My second child is 14 and is in the ninth grade this year. I have been married to the same guy for 23 years. I have two cats and just love them.
I am a Paranormal enthusiast and love attending Ghost Hunter's conferences, Ghost Hunts and tours. In my spare time, I am a Paranormal Investigator with the Kissimmee Paranormal Investigation group. I am proud to report that this group just became an official Taps family group.
I owned my first computer in 1979 and consider myself one of the original computer geeks. I am also certified as a CompTia A+, Network+ and Linux+ Professional. I currently have a five computer Ethernet MAC, Linux and Windows network at home. I am routing a cable modem Internet connection to the four other computers without the use of a hardware router. This is possible because of the Rip Protocol capability available in the Linux Operating System.
.@rodb2008 Thanks for the support. Yes, the new building will be state of the art but I feel like all my memories I made here will be gone.
