Jim’s been a participant and catalyst in the convergence of entertainment and technology, having represented Sony Pictures in the formation of the 5-studio joint venture which launched Movielink, the film industry’s first video digital distribution platform in 2001. His last position at Sony was as the Senior Vice President at Sony Connect, where he had oversight of the online distribution of video, music and eBooks services. Jim held positions of broad and increasing responsibility at various Sony companies, including heading up functions of Finance, Business and Legal Affairs and Corporate Development as well as overseeing various business P&Ls. Jim was the Deputy GM of Sony Broadband Entertainment in Tokyo, Japan, where he developed strategy for the company’s portfolio of digital assets. Prior to joining Sony in 2001, Jim worked at Katten, Muchin & Zavis and, previously, Debevoise & Plimpton, focusing his law practice on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, including public and private M&A transactions, public and private securities offerings, financial restructurings, joint ventures, venture capital and private equity. Jim holds an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA, a JD from Loyola Law School and a degree in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley. Jim is admitted to practice law in California and is a member of the State Bar of California.
