My art is my way of sharing the magic I find in my adventures and backcountry hiking excursions. It is a way to bring rural America to the masses all around the world. The animals, figures, and landscape of my childhood are subjects that continually draw my attention. My love for dogs, horses, and wildlife fill many of my art pieces. Trips to places (a field from Cloudland Canyon to the farms of people all around) continue to be sources of my inspiration. If I can capture the grace and beauty of an animal as my Lord created them through His inspiration, then I am most successful.

I refer to my style of painting as “creative realism”, a creative form inspired by nature and wildlife filled with dramatic soft lighting. I have developed my own unique voice as an artist being in a sense self-taught by having the dedication to study Master Painters and Photographers daily. Yet I will not deny the great help of many in my development. I love my freedom to look at the world as creative inspiration and then to express that inspiration in thick impastos known as “chiaroscuro” and transparent shadows on wood boards. It is my goal to put my inspiration of the world on board in just a few brush strokes leaving an air of beautiful freshness revealed by simple design. I start with thin coats of paint building up my rhythm till I achieve a steady thought process which leads to thick and quick applying of paint over a detailed pencil sketch. I use the best oils I can find, Old Holland and Blockx buying in bulk using amber and bees wax as my mediums.

The foremost artist of inspiration for me is the greatest creator of them all Jesus Christ in whom I rely for inspiration and ability.
