problemsmith's profile D. Jeffrey Wright / 46, Male / Member since October 2008 / Last seen 2 months ago
Born in the United States now living as an expat in Venezuela, I am working on projects that foster community business and cooperation.
From time to time I talk about these projects online in blogs and am active in some of the more popular social networks. Find me online by searching for the problemsmith.
Below is a mini-bio about me written by my copywriter.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1962 as David Jeffrey Wright. Spent his early life in Southern New Jersey near Philadelphia, later his parents moved to Los Angeles/Beverly Hills area to pursue his father's career. Jeffrey spent his adolescent life in the Southern California community of Valinda.
School was never much of a challenge for Jeff, subsequently he quit high school at 15 taking the California High School Proficiency Exam and started a small business when he was 16 forming a company called Studio 7, where he installed home and car stereo systems. Not satisfied with his knowledge of business he entered a nearby community college and took courses on small business management. He attended the college for two semesters and during the Iran hostage crisis in 1979 he decided to enter the US Navy Reserve and became an electrician and low voltage specialist.
Using the experience he acquired, he found himself working a great number of jobs and maintained a contracting company while he attended different universities studying horticulture, business administration, and philosophy. He kept horticulture as a hobby and became a pastor using his philosophy degree when he married in 1988 and re-established his contracting business to Greenville, Delaware near Wilmington.
In Greenville he gained the respect and friendship of a number of prestigious families in the area through the contractor work he performed in their homes as a communications installer and electrical protection engineer installing lightning rods. In Delaware he came to know the heads of families like the DuPont, Carpenter, Copeland, Coleman, and even worked at Joe Biden's home, who was elected as Vice-President of the United States in 2008.
In 1988 he began to develop environmental interests and became a conservationist with a particular interest in turtles and their environments, thanks to his friendships he quickly found funding for his 'pet projects.' In 1990 with the help of Mike McCabe, Joe Biden's press secretary, he became the regional coordinator for 20th anniversary of Earth Day. In subsequent years he gained national recognition as one of the best known environmental activists of the decade distributing over 10 million trees for planting across North America through another program he developed.
In the mid 90's to expand his horizons and provide a better life for his children he moved to Kentucky. There he continued with his
environmental aspirations by distribution surplus forestry stock to the public and got started in farming and agricultural forestry
consulting in Berea. In 1996, he was honored by Kentucky's Governor and was distinguished with the title of Colonel, which involves the distinguished lifetime service as one of many
goodwill ambassadors for the Commonwealth.
Though not mentioned frequently he also holds an honorary doctorate degree in religion, philosophy, has a Juris Doctor degree in natural law, is a certified professional charitable development officer, and works as a strategist with think tanks addressing sustainable development and ecology issues.
Today he works as the executive director for the Pan-American Foundation in Caracas, Venezuela and serves as the Ambassador for
XING AG for Venezuela, moderating and organizing official events for the German social networking company.
