How Being Personally Selfish Is Not Being Selfish At All

"Neglecting to pay-attention to darkness will only fill you with brightness. Don't let your mind get cluttered by negativity. No matter how bad something is you can always find a positive to focus on." -Byron Haag

Throughout life you are always saying, "I wish I had this" or "I wish I was this person," etc., well, this is what I like to call "having an imagination." Having an imagination is something that shapes how we see our reality, and therefore, affects our expectations and hopes, our actions and behaviors. If you can dream it, then it can become your reality, you just have to put in the hard work and determination.

Think about it, do you have a strong desire to do or to achieve something in life? If so, what does it take for you to reach your goal? If not, then hopefully by the end of this post you will have a different perspective..

When you put your own ambitions first in life its not being selfish. People that see that selfishness are actually being selfish themselves because they are wanting you to change your ambitions and goals as opposed to being supportive to what you want in life. Now, to clarify, there is a difference between being personally selfish (desire to achieve something in life) and just being plain selfish (being inconsiderate to others). But, moreover, if people think you are being self-centered for putting your ambitions first, then they are unhappy with who they are as an individual, they find doing the same ordinary task everyday is "fun" and they don't won't to look forward to anything in life. On the other hand, those who are personally selfish and put their ambitions first never settle, they continue setting goals and succeeding higher up the totem pole each time.

As mentioned by the Elite Daily, "ambitious people understand that there are no short cuts and it is only their persistence that will get them what they want. They put it all on the line, not letting any instance of drive go ignored because they know this is what they must use to make sure most of their time is dedicated to getting closer and closer to their dream." With that being said, having an ambitious attitude can lead anyone to triumph and satisfaction, regardless of what is put in front of them. When you have the strong will, dream, and courage to be on top of the world, it will get you a lot further in life than any skill you can possibly possess. Never let anyone change your intentions in life, if you have that strong drive to reach your goals set in place for yourself, then you can't let egocentric people get in the way from making them occur.

Logically speaking, in order to achieve something you have to know where you stand with your goals and ambitions in life. For instance, an example I was given at one point was to imagine your life as a race, and that winning is equivalent to achieving success. If you don't have the mindset to win the race at the beginning, then it is obvious that you will not give it your all. But, if you compare that to someone who is ambitious and highly motivated to succeed at their goals, then their chances of winning are so much greater. This is simply because they will do whatever to surpass their own limits, never quitting and always thinking of different ways to win.

Secondly, when setting a goal you want to strive for being very specific as possible because setting a vague goal is utterly worthless. This will therefore, lead to having a distinct plan that will help guide you to achieving your goals. For example, if your goal is "I want to read more books," well that seems a little vague right? How many books? By when? You want be more specific maybe by thinking of the who, the what, the where, and the when of your goal. So, taking those components into consideration, your new goal could be something like,"I am going to read one book every month, twelve books a year by Dec 2017."

Lastly, know yourself and know it well. Be confident in yourself and be assertive in your missions to accomplishing your goals. You and your ambitions need to be one with each other. With that being said, you must understand each other and be on the same page so that you can be successful together instead of being pulled in different directions.Having a strong ambition means dedicating your life to hard work, perfecting your work, sleepless nights and sacrifice to reach the life you wish to attain.

In closing, there will be some highs and lows but keep in mind that you are constantly learning throughout the journey. Embrace your passion and follow your dream. Let your ambition fuel you to be the best and prove the world wrong. Never ever settle for ordinary.
