Unlike the classic poem for which The Nightmare Before Christmas is based, the slightly ghoulish, slightly cartoonish movie classic from Tim Burton is not exactly the first thing many people might think of when deciding on a theme for their Christmas party. To disregard it as too silly, though, would be a mistake. Throwing a Nightmare Before Christmas holiday party may just be the most fun you’ve had in years.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is the story of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King, whose quest to spread Christmas joy actual puts the entire holiday in jeopardy. The movie offered viewers a contemporary take on Christmas and it was a massive hit. Kids dressed up as key characters like Jack, Sally, and faithful Zero, but more than everything people took away the idea that it’s okay to celebrate Christmas in a way that might seem a little… strange.

Honor Jack’s noble mission by meshing the spirit of The Nightmare Before Christmas with plenty of traditional Christmas magic. It’s a chance to be creative and push the boundaries of what a holiday party should really be. Whatever happens, it’ll be an event to remember.
