Thanksgiving is a fun-filled and festive holiday when families in Surprise, Avondale and Peoria get to spend quality time together. If you're looking for activities to enjoy with your family after feasting on all that turkey, there are dozens of events around Phoenix to keep everyone happy and entertained. We've listed some of the ones you might be most interested in below.

1.   Fountain Hills Thanksgiving Day Parade

Fountain Hills Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of its largest community events every year. This is Arizona's only Thanksgiving Day Parade and is one of the season's most highly anticipated events.

Starting at 9 am, marching bands, floats, dancers, school groups, Girl Scout troops, classic cars, and VFW members proceed behind the grand marshal through downtown Fountain Hills. The parade lasts about two hours and is a great way to kick off your family's Thanksgiving celebration.

The parade is free to the public, but we advise you get there early so you get a good spot.

2.   Lifetime Turkey Day

If you're looking to burn some extra calories before Thanksgiving dinner, sign up for one of the Lifetime Turkey Day races. The main 5K/10K Turkey Day Run begins at Wesley Bolin Plaza and weaves through some of Phoenix's most famous landmarks.

In addition to the 5K and 10K, Lifetime Turkey Day offers two kid-friendly races Thanksgiving morning: a $12 one-mile Gobbler Dash for parents and kids 12 and under and an $8 Tot Trot 25- to 50-yard dash for kids 6 and under. Afterwards, families can head to the Kids Zone for face painting, turkey hats, arts and crafts, and balloon artists.

Race-day registration and packet pickup begins at 6 am. We recommend that you pre-register online because rates increase as Lifetime Turkey Day approaches. For a full racing schedule, visit Lifetime Turkey Day's website. You can also sign up to volunteer in the morning. Participants receive a free t-shirt, free race photos, and refreshments afterwards.

3.   Arizona International Auto Show

The annual four-day Arizona International Auto Show kicks off on Thanksgiving at 9 am and continues throughout the weekend. You can explore the latest models from brands such as Nissan at the Phoenix Convention Center.

Tickets are $11 for adults and $7 for senior citizens, military, and children ages 7 to 12. Admission is free for children 6 and under.

If you attend the Arizona International Auto Show and like what you see from Nissan, you can come into Coulter Nissan to schedule a test drive or look through our inventory. You won't want to miss the Auto Show, especially if you're a car enthusiast or in the market for a new vehicle.
