St. George, Utah boasts some of the hottest summers I’ve ever experienced. After growing up in St. George and suffering through some insanely hot summers (100+ degrees at midnight), I learned some of the best activities to stay cool, have fun, and avoid boredom like a plague. Here is a list of the top five summer activities in St. George, Utah, and not surprisingly, most of these involve a body of water! Most of these activities won’t break the bank and are great for families!

Cliff Jumping at Sand Hollow

The best part of cliff jumping at Sand Hollow is that you don’t need a boat to access the cliffs! It makes enjoying the lake cheap, easy and stress-free. Head out on almost any summer day and these cliffs will be full of kids, families and teenagers alike. The cliffs range from heights as low as 2-3 feet all the way up to around 40 feet. One of the best spots to cool off on a hot summer day! For more info, check out the state park site. Entrance fees are $10 per car.

Skimboarding at the Virgin River

Skimboarding is a lesser-known sport that is hugely popular and famous in St. George. Think skateboarding and surfing combined with a thin patch of water, in St. George’s case the Virgin River. Skimboarding is a great fitness activity for young kids and something fun to try for adults. Check out this post for in-depth information about the top skimboarding spot in St. George, including directions. The tough part for this activity is getting a skimboard, but you can find cheap options at sporting goods stores and on Amazon.

Trampoline Parks

This is my only recommendation that involves going indoors. Trampoline parks are a great place to beat the heat, get some good exercise and learn some new tricks. House of Jump is one we frequently visited when I was younger. If you go during the day time you typically can avoid the crowds. They have activities for all ages and interests. A trampoline park is truly a top summer activity to stay out of the heat and have a fun time.

Aquatic Centers

This one is a no-brainer because swimming is one of the best all-time summer activities. St. George has a handful of aquatic centers that suit visitors of any age or swimming level. Here are some of the top aquatic centers. The Washington City Community Center has tons of activities outside of swimming that include rock climbing, basketball, and much more. The St. George Swimming pool has nice diving boards, a slide, and a fun pool basketball area, also one of the cheapest options. A third option is the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center which has a fun play area for kids, diving boards, and a slide as well. Whichever one you choose, it’s a great choice for cooling off in the summer.

Tuacahn Center for the Arts

Tuacahn Center for the Arts is truly St. George’s top gem for a summer activity. The performances, actors, and theatrics are top notch. The broadway style shows typically are perfect for any age, including toddlers and seniors. Tuacahn is an outdoor theater but the shows are in the evenings when temperatures are cooled off. There are often other activities including concerts throughout the summer. Ticket prices vary by day and show, so be sure to buy ahead!
